All of our acupuncture is performed by ‘New York State licensed acupuncturists’.

Acupuncture is a discipline of medicine that was originated by the ancient Chinese. It focuses on energy flow known as Qi (pronounced “Chee”). The energy flows through, and around the body along pathways that are known as meridians.

The use of acupuncture induces the release of endorphins, the chemical naturally released in the brain that reduces pain and create a feeling of well-being.

Our acupuncturists will ask you questions about your current condition and general health, and examine you. Treatment is performed by putting very thin needles into the skin at certain acupuncture points on the body. The purpose of this is to induce energy flow. Sometimes, heat, mild electrical current and pressure may be used along with the needles.

The insertion of tiny needles is usually pain-free and many people report feeling extremely relaxed and some even fall asleep during treatment.

According to Chinese medical theory, the purpose of acupuncture is to unblock the Qi that is not flowing correctly and to restore regular flow of Qi through the meridians. Each acupuncture point has a predictable effect allowing Qi to pass through it, which alters various physiological conditions and biochemicals to achieve the desired effect.
