Meet the Chiropractor

  • Dr.
    Ben Glasman

I’ve lived in Northern Virginia for almost, my whole life. I love this community and am so excited to use the knowledge and skills I’ve gained to help others. I have always had a deep passion for health and fitness.

During childhood, I participated in many sport and track activities. In my teen years, I spent much of my time studying anatomy and began an amateur career in Bodybuilding. I would spend hours reading, exercising, and learning about nutrition. It consumed me and I loved every minute of it. While competing, I began using my expertise to help others as a personal trainer. The joy of helping others achieve their health and fitness goals was very fulfilling. I truly believe that overcoming a tough obstacle makes the journey all worthwhile.

During this journey, my body began to reach its boiling point. My back started to bother me as I grew, and one fateful day it happened. Shortly after a workout, my lower back muscles “gave out” and I dropped to the floor like a sack of potatoes. It felt like lightning bolts shooting through my spine. I came back from the doctor’s office with 3 bulging discs on the MRI report. The doctor told me I would never be able to compete again, and I was devastated.

Although discouraged, I did not give up hope. I began seeing a Chiropractor, and after a series of visits, I began seeing improvements in my pain, and more importantly, my ability to be active again. With the help of Chiropractic and other health professionals, I went on to win the 2005 Virginia State Championships and placed 2nd at Nationals three years later.

Throughout my journey, I learned many new ways to strengthen my core, stretch the right muscles, and keep my flare-ups to a minimum. It was great to teach others these techniques, and help my exercise clients meet their goals.

After receiving my Bachelor’s at George Mason University, I knew my journey wasn’t over. I couldn’t help wanting to know more about the body. There were too many unanswered questions. I knew if I could teach others how to exercise and eat right, they could live a healthier life. Yet, so many of my clients, my friends, and own family were suffering from life-threatening health problems. They did all the right things, ate the right foods, exercised regularly, and yet they were stuck taking multiple medications to control their varying “symptoms”. It was then that I knew there was more out there. I began Chiropractic School the very next fall and had no idea what was in store for me.

While in school, I learned so much about health and the human body. I learned how our life decisions can change our mind, body, and even spirit, on a cellular level. We can do so much to help one another, and instill hope in those who’ve lost it.

    My Specialty

As a patient myself, I understand what It’s like to be in crippling pain. It can be a scary thing. While in school I spent countless extra-curricular hours learning advanced techniques for various health problems. My own injuries helped fuel my passion. This passion led me to learn about a specialized field in Chiropractic known as Functional Neurology.

Functional Neurology is a field that focuses its efforts on healing tough problems (both neurological and metabolic) without the use of drugs and surgery. Having close friends and family with neurological disorders spurred my interest immediately. By the time I finished school, I had attended over 300 extra-curricular hours in this profession. It’s given me expert knowledge about the brain and body. I am currently Board Eligible and hope to continue studying, and receive my Post-Doctorate in Functional Neurology.
