Meet the Doctor

Dr. Christine T. Lipat, DC, CFMP at Niu Health ChiropracticDr. Chris Lipat, holistic chiropractor, Certified Cellular Regeneration Technique Practitioner, Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner, and White Light/Karuna Reiki® Master based in Honolulu, HI, discovered the value of chiropractic combined with nutrition and energy work during her own healing journey. After 12 years as a dedicated, full-time staff and volunteer board member for various social justice organizations in New York City, she experienced burnout and its consequences. Activist mentors introduced her to the restorative effects of reiki, yoga and acupuncture, and she was quickly hooked on the philosophies of nurturing the inner healer.

In 2004, she moved to the San Francisco bay area to begin her work in supporting individuals on their healing journey. Here she experienced chiropractic care for the first time at Life Chiropractic College West clinic, and assisted Dr. Lori-Ann Gertonson DC in her wellness clinic, Creating Harmony Institute, now known as the Gertonson Institute. At the Institute, Dr. Chris learned about chiropractic philosophy and she resonated with Dr. B.J. Palmer, the developer of chiropractic, who stated that “the power that made the body, heals the body” and that “chiropractic is concerned with people expressing their full potential.” Now, doesn't that sound better than "Do No Harm"?

Dr. Chris graduated magna cum laude in 2010 from Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, California. She was twice selected as Intern of the Month and finished her clinic requirements early on. She completed her undergraduate pre-med coursework with a B.A. in Biology from Oberlin College, and worked with various nonprofits while completing an M.A. in Nonprofit Management from New School University. A Filipina born in NJ, Dr. Chris moved to Honolulu to live closer to the climate and food that her body requires for maximal health, and to reach communities on the island that she can best serve with her unique viewpoint and approach to healing.

As a White Light and Karuna Reiki® master, she has taught numerous reiki classes and volunteered as a reiki practitioner at the Charlotte Maxwell Clinic for low income women with cancer in Oakland. Through her own healing journey, she has developed an integrative chiropractic approach that appeals to those dealing with chronic stress and experiencing a myriad of complaints, who are motivated to make changes in their lives. Niu Health for a New You! in Honolulu is about supporting patients in a new health paradigm which places the body’s self-healing powers at the forefront of lasting change.

Dr. Chris’ unique approach has been influenced by Dr. Gina Kim's Cellular Regeneration Technique, Brimhall’s Six Steps to Wellness, Morphogenic Field Technique, Nutrition Response Testing, Neuro-Emotional Technique, Cellular Regeneration Technique, Applied Kinesiology, Michael Lebowitz DC's Body Restoration approach, BioEnergetic Synchronization Technique, NUCCA upper cervical technique, and Activator Methods. She also includes Reiki as needed. She is a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner (Functional Medicine University) and has completed 200 hours towards a Diplomate from the American Clinical Board of Nutrition.

Dr. Chris is also licensed to practice in Guam, and travels 1-2 times a year to offer her advanced healing arts practice to the communities of Guåhan.

Dr. Chris will be contributing a percentage of income from her practice in Honolulu, HI towards projects that ensure a healthy, more equitable, sustainable Hawai’i.
