Description:
This course will build upon the skills learned in the Basic Communication and History Taking Skills course. The students will practice the skills needed to address challenging patient communication issues such as handling the agitated patient, delivering bad news, and interacting with diverse patient populations. History taking and documentation skills will be honed to elicit sufficient secondary and tertiary information to obtain a more detailed history. The students will learn how to modify their patient history based on the patient’s age, gender or cultural differences. Standardized patients will be used in both teaching and assessment to enhance the learning process.
