Texas Chiropractic College Faculty Members Excel at ACC Conference

March 15, 2017 - WASHINGTON DC

Texas Chiropractic College faculty members were an integral part of the combined Association of Chiropractic Colleges (ACC) and World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) Congress conference held in Washington DC on March 15-18, 2017. This was the first time these two groups met to form one common conference with over 1000 attendees. Conference attendees from the world over came to contribute and listen to presentations ranging from basic science to clinical trials. It was truly a coming together of international leaders in the chiropractic profession.

The conference received over 400 research submissions for peer review including workshops. Of that total, only 200 submissions were selected for platform or poster presentations. TCC faculty, Drs. Hawk, Wynd, Ward and Mrozek, were selected to present their research as a platform or poster format in addition to participating or giving workshops.

The topics presented included Best practices for chiropractic care for older adults: A consensus update, Dr. Hawk and others; Best chiropractic practices for pregnant and postpartum patients a workshop involving Dr. Hawk and others; A systematic review of thrust manipulation plus on conservative intervention for non-surgical rotator cuff conditions, involving Dr. Hawk with others; Integrative clinical pathway for veterans with spine pain and mental health co-morbidities: Results of a Delphi process study, involving Dr. Hawk and others; and The combined use of spinal manipulation and acupuncture as potential integrative care for low back pain: analysis of National Health Interview Survey data, involving Dr. Hawk and others.  Attitude changes towards the basic science courses between 1st, 5th and 8th trimesters, by Drs. Wynd and Friesen; The use of infrared cameras to detect pain: Determining the specificity and sensitivity, by Drs. Wynd and Boriek and TCC student Bob Kwon; The use of activity trackers in the promotion of health and wellness: A pilot trial, by Drs. Wynd and Boriek, and TCC student Amber Horsley; Crural index influence on parameters of the female running gate, by Drs. Ward, Thompson, and Coats; and Using the Personal Background Preparation Survey to identify the at-risk student in the first year of a doctor of chiropractic program, by Dr. MrozekTCC is proud of the contribution of its faculty to advancing chiropractic research at this prestigious venue.
