What is Massage Therapy?
Massage Therapy is based on the ancient healing art of therapeutic touch, using manual treatment on the joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues of the body to relieve pain, rehabilitate and improve physical function. Massage therapists use a variety of all natural techniques and modalities to effectively restore tissue health. Massage acts on various systems of the body, and is a proven method to relieve muscle and joint pain, improve circulation and promote lymphatic drainage. Massage therapy is also recognized as stress reduction therapy, utilized as a preventative measure for stress-related illness and to improve mental well-being.

Sports Massage & Training:
Whether you’re a professional athlete or just playing pickup, sports and activity can often lead to overuse and injury. Massage can help relax those muscles, stretch the muscle fibers, increase circulation, and prevent future injuries. It is also very helpful in breaking up scar tissue from old injuries and increasing flexibility. Warm-up and cool-down are very important in sports and massage can help with both, as it has both stimulating and relaxing effects. Athletes can also use massage as a way to de-stress from very competitive events and/or help prepare for such events. We will work with you to make sure you gain the most beneficial treatment. We also work on-site for runs or special events, as we already do for such events like the Endure-Run, Waterloo Classic Race, etc.
