Meet the Chiropractor

Family Pic

I was a student at Eastern Washington University and was about to graduate with an environmental biology degree, and quickly found out I did not want to work in the laboratory (grinding up fruit flies is not as glamorous as it may seem!). I quickly shifted my major to Human Biology and was studying to become a medical doctor. I was about 24 years old at the time and was suffering with a lot of stabbing pain in my back. I had a really good friend who was studying to be a chiropractor and told me to make an appointment with a chiropractor to see if it could help me. Well, to make a long story short, it was the only thing that helped me and so I chose a career in chiropractic.

Now, chiropractic school is no picnic. You start at 7am and end at 7pm, which was quite challenging when you have a two-month old, but my wife and I persevered. I was aware that they weren’t going to give away that doctorate degree for nothing, but 12 hours of school 5 days a week for 3 ½ years was a lot of work! I eventually graduated in February of 2000 (with honors) and started looking for a place to start a practice.

I spent the next six months visiting towns throughout Washington, and finally decided that Moses Lake was the place. The clinic opened in August of 2000 on 4th Street. I was there for about three years before we moved to our permanent location on Maiers Rd. From the day I opened the doors of the back in 2000, I wanted to help people get well and keep them that way. So many people ride the roller coaster of feeling bad and feeling good. It is so important to “fix the problem” instead of masking the symptoms.

Outside of the office my life is pretty crazy. I have five girls that keep my wife and I busy. Lauren is my oldest and is an senior at Eastern Washington University. She is currently pursuing a degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences. Emily is my second oldest. She is currently in 12th grade at MLHS and in her 2nd year at BBCC as a running start student. She loves to play volleyball and softball. Next comes Sara; she is a current member to the MLHS Molahiette drill team. She is in 10th grade and has this light red hair that definitely fits her personality. Last but not least we have the twins: Madison and Allison. They are 14 years old and are in 8th grade this year. When they are not on the ski hill, you will find them cheering with the CMMS cheer squad. They kids are very busy and they keep us going. I don’t know how my wife does it. I am married to my lovely wife Sonya. We have been married for 23 years now, and she has been the best thing that ever happened to me. She keeps me grounded and without her everything would have exploded by now.

Outside the office I try to be involved in the community. I am a member of the Moses Lake Rotary Club, and I play guitar for the Moses Lake Presbyterian Church worship team. On Tuesdays you will find me teaching at Big Bend part-time. In my down time I enjoy hitting the slopes in the winter, and a round of golf every now and then when the weather permits.

I know everyone out there has different health goals. They can range from just getting rid of a nagging sore lower back to rehabilitation after a car accident. What we try to accomplish here is to find out what is wrong and fix it. I will be the first to admit that I don’t have all the answers, but what I do know about the human body and problems associated with it, I strive to offer the most advanced and up to date treatments available to treat those problems.

Enough about me! How can we help you with today’s safe and natural chiropractic care? Give us a call so we can help you take your first step towards better health.
