We often get asked why we need to x-rays. I have a lot of different answers to that question: You might be able to walk through your kitchen with lights off but it's certainly a lot easier with the lights on.... or.... We like to know and be careful with our patients conditions.... or..... It's one thing to feel the problem, it's another to see the problem and it's even better to compare what we feel and see.
What ever the answer x-rays give us a lot of insight into the condition of your spine, how long the problem has been an issue, how long the problem might take to correct, how bad the problem is and it helps us to rule out any "bad" issues like cancers or tumors. Aside from the medical reasons to take x-rays another one of the best reasons to take x-rays is that it helps the patients actually see their problem and understand what is going on with them as well.
