What is FNOR (Functional Neuro-Orthopedic Rehabilitation)?

A Unique, Modern Approach to Rehabilitation.

FNOR is a modern rehabilitation approach that seamlessly  blends applied functional neuroscience, physical therapy, orthopedic care and modern rehabilitative methods to achieve  faster , more effective  consistent  results.
The  FNOR  approach is a  powerful  system that has been  proven  on  thousands  of the most complicated , musculoskeletal patients.

If you have been searching for a way to take your health to the  next level , you can  not  afford to miss this cutting-edge treatment.
FNOR began as a project that was aimed at developing non-invasive solutions to stubborn, treatment-resistant post-surgical pain, but developed into a comprehensive system of physical rehabilitation that can be effectively applied to a range of common orthopedic conditions including:
  • Arm/Shoulder Conditions (e.g. rotator cuff injury, frozen shoulder, shoulder pain, tennis elbow, golfer's elbow).
  • Spinal Conditions (e.g. lower back pain, neck pain, spinal stenosis, disc injury).
  • Hip/Leg Problems (e.g. IT Band Syndrome, hip arthritis, hip pain, knee pain, runners knee, Achilles tendon pain, plantar fasciitis).
Because the FNOR system addresses the body and brain, it is also used to rehabilitate those who have suffered from:
  • Brain Injury (e.g. Stroke, Concussion, TBI).
  • Poor Balance, Instability, Frequent Falling.
  • Traumatic Injuries involving brain and body issues.

How does FNOR   differ from other rehabilitation approaches?
1. Body and Brain Approach
Based on modern research in neuroscience and rehabilitation, FNOR   is based on the concept that musculoskeletal injury associated with pain that lasts a long time after the injury, most often causes changes in the nervous system (brain and nerves of the body).
This is why many patients fail to respond to conventional physical therapy and medical measures that only address the injured or painful area - these limited approaches do not address the changes in the nervous system that result from injury.
FNOR treats the body and brain at the  same time through the use of a range of unique techniques. While some look similar to common physical therapy methods and some look very different, all FNORmethods are non-invasive.
2. Different Pain Treatment Methods
Many patients report that they feel like " somebody finally understands their pain" and its effects on their life. FNOR treats even the most stubborn forms of chronic pain, including post-surgical pain. In fact, the FNOR system was first developed to treat pain sufferers, many of whom had undergone multiple failed surgeries.
By going after changes in the nervous system, FNOR aims to reversethe effects of chronic pain on your body, boosting the function of your nervous system rather than just dampening the areas dealing with pain.
3. Variety of Techniques & Approaches
If you are a chronic pain sufferer or someone who has seen multiple specialists for your injury, then you have likely seen physical (physio-) therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, medical physicians and even surgeons. You probably noticed that each had their own approachto your problem. You may have found that each of these approaches had some limited benefit, but none completely resolved your problem.
While each approach has its merits, for most people, their chronic pain and injury requires a multi-pronged approach, involving a range of methods rather than one-at-a-time. In fact, in many cases, the process of undergoing therapies one-at-a-time, can actually prolong recoveryand complicate the problem.
For many patients, the FNOR  approach brings the real relief that they have been waiting for!

Above is a patient who presented with severe, persistent knee painthat was not alleviated by surgical, knee replacement. Pain that persists after surgery is typically very difficult to treat by any single method. FNOR was developed to offer an effective treatment option for chronic pain sufferers like this.
CLIENT TESTIMONIAL:
"Dr Adam Harcourt has introduced me into a very different way of dealing with long standing pain issues. Just knowing that you don't have to be in pain that there are alternative solutions to using drugs or surgery for chronic or accident-related physical ills is refreshing.
I am beginning to understand just how chronic pain and loss of motion/balance can be treated and how much depends on me to do my part in becoming whole again.

The one major change for me is the restoration of my sense of balance, I'm feeling more grounded and the foot pain I've had for many years is now gone.
I appreciate being part of my own treatment team, engaging my ability to heal and create good health following the treatment and directions of Dr. Harcourt and his amazing staff.
If you have been or are suffering from injuries or chronic pain and would like an alternative that isn't the traditional 'Medical Model' of drugs and or surgery, I highly recommend making an appointment."
