How To Be Migraine-Free In 30 Days, Part 2

How to Be Migraine-Free in 30 Days Part 2

Recap of Part 1

In Part 1 of ‘How To Be Migraine-Free In 30 Days’, you learned why medications don't work long-term, why migraine medications are dangerous, and why no “one thing” fixes all migraines... That is, until Functional Neurology!

Why Doesn’t My Regular Doctor Use This Treatment?

The way general practitioners are trained is to basically learn the checklist of symptoms that constitutes a disease. Then, once there is a diagnosis, choose a medication that is required for that diagnosis (determined by the standard of care). Kind of like a recipe book.

This type of care can be effective for straight-forward illness or injury, but does not address pathophysiology of complex and chronic diseases, such as migraines. It is treating the symptom, not the root cause. In fact, there is no current consensus on what causes a migraine, which is why there are several different treatments that are primarily palliative, rarely preventive.

The approach of a general practitioner is extremely effective for emergency or life-threatening situations, but not necessarily functional or chronic issues.

Also, this does not just go for general practitioners... Most alternative medicine practitioners use this method! For instance, if you go to a surgeon, you are going to get surgery. If you go to an acupuncturist, you are going to get acupuncture. If you go to a chiropractor, you are going to get chiropractic. Same with many other types of treatment practices.

A Functional Neurologist has several different types of treatment in their tool belt, so they are able to zoom out and examine a patient objectively, and, therefore, treat the patient in the way that is BEST for that individual.

It is important to know that there are many triggers for a migraine (stress, diet, hormones, loud noises, weather changes, etc.). However, none of those are the underlying cause. A trigger and a cause are two different things. The cause is almost always neurological... An imbalance in the brain, typically in the brain stem.

No matter what caused the imbalance in the brain, it is correctable!

A Functional Neurologist can detect that cause in the initial exam. He or she will perform several different tests, such as muscle testing, reflexes, eye movements, balance, posture, gait, and others. Many or all of these tests will point to the area of the brain that is dysfunctional.

The Functional Neurologist will then create a treatment plan that targets healing in this area. It is kind of like physical therapy for the brain.

You “work out” the weak area over and over until it is strong again. The Functional Neurologist will give you at- home exercises to help the area of the brain in need.

Most patients report significant improvement within the first couple weeks... Even as short as a few days! Almost all patients are migraine-free within 30 days if compliant with the treatment plan and at-home exercises.

Dr Adam Harcourt of Santa Barbara, CA has had a 100% success rate in the elimination of migraines permanently for patients who have completed his program. Patients are shocked at the affordability of care and travel from outside the area for treatments.

If you or someone you know is interested in a consultation with Dr Adam, please complete the Migraine Questionnaire below. Once reviewed, you will be contacted if you are a good candidate for Functional Neurology migraine treatments.
