YAY FOR INFLAMMATION!

INFLAMMATION IS NOT ALWAYS A BAD THING!  (Part 1)

Now that I got your attention...let me explain...here is a very brief explanation and summary of processes:

We welcome inflammation when we need to promote healing of a damaged area.

When we are injured the body sends in the “troops” to start the process...the “troops” have different jobs...some destroy and clean up the “bad guys” while other troops begin to rebuild and help the area thrive.  This is good.

We have pain to alert us that we have a problem, this is caused by the increased fluid building up pressure.  With the increased fluid, the brain will make us lose function in the affected area so we don’t do further damage to it.  This is critical for survival.

So as you can see we want to welcome this process.  The key is to understand that this is not a bad thing...it means your body is working the way it is meant to.

I will follow up this post with when and why we DON'T want inflammation in an area...especially how it pertains to performance.
