Exercise snacks

Years ago, in 2018 I wrote a blog about the benefits of doing micro bouts of exercises to improve one's health. I mentioned that doing 25 seconds 1 minute of movements several times per day would have a significant positive outcome on your health.

Recently while I was exercising, doing the Culver City Stairs, I was listening to a podcast on health, and the topic of "EXERCISE SNAKS" popped in, and the research that has now come out showing the benefits of it. All I could do is think back on the bIog I wrote back in the day. (see blog at bottom of this newsletter)

What is an Exercise Snack?
"By definition, an exercise snack is a brief snippet of exercise, usually lasting a minute or two and indulged in often during the day."

In 2019 a study followed healthy college students who snacked on exercise by rapidly climbing and descending three flights of steps, three times a day — in the morning, at lunchtime and again in late afternoon — almost every day for six weeks.

Aside from this, they did not perform any other exercises. After only six weeks, the results were very significant: they had gained significant amounts of aerobic fitness and leg strength.

Imagine now if they would just keep on going...12 weeks, 6 months, year after year?

Now, just because the study focused on climbing stairs, that does not mean that other forms of exercise won't work. That's just what one study focused on. Just about any bout of exercise that raises your heart rate will do.

I hope you enjoyed this. I highly encourage you to try this. Below is the blog I wrote in 2018, and
here is a link directly to my website where this blog still resides (it took me some searching to find it!)
