Osteoporosis Treatment Program

BUILDING BONE NATURALLY: OSTEOPOROSIS PROGRAM

As a country of people, we consume more dairy products and take more calcium supplements than anyone on the planet. So, why do we have the highest rate of hip fractures in the world? Why can't we stop the growing number of people, especially women, added to the list of those being newly diagnosed with osteopenia and osteoporosis each day? Maybe we are looking in the wrong direction!

When it comes to bone loss, whether it is osteoporosis or osteopenia, the best action is to be proactive in your approach. If you have read my article,"If You Take Handfuls of Calcium Supplements and Still Have Osteoporosis-You Must  Read This!", you already know that it is better not to wait until you have a DEXA study to take care of your bones. You also know that calcium supplements alone are not enough.

Because of the adverse side effects connected with Boniva, Fosamax and Actonel such as diarrhea, heartburn, GERD, bone pain, abdominal pain, etc, more women are looking for a natural approach for maintaining bone health.

How Womens Besthealth Approaches Bone Health

First of all, you should never rely on a bone density test to check for osteoporosis. There is a newer and better way to test your bone health. It is a simple urine test that can be done in your own home. And, best of all, it can tell you how fast your bones are breaking down and how well (if at all) they are re-building themselves. This urine test is called a Pyrilinks-D-Test or a Dpd Collagen Crosslink Test.

Bone is a living tissue. Like living coral, new bone is constantly being built as old bone is being destroyed and excreted. As we age fewer new bone cells are generated than lost and we begin to lose bone mass.

How Pyrilinks-D Testing Works

The Pyrilinks-D test measures a by-product of bone breakdown in the urine that can tell us if your bones are breaking down faster than they are being rebuilt.  If the test measures anywhere between 2.5 and 6.5, you are maintaining bone mass. A reading above 6.5 means that you are breaking down bone mass faster than you can rebuild it! If bone mass continues to breakdown, you become osteoporotic. A woman in her 40's can have a great DEXA score and yet be losing bone through her urine at a rapid rate due to poor lifestyle habits, hormone imbalance, stress, inflammation and low VitaminD3 levels among other things.

Who is Most a Risk for Bone Loss

  • Women with a family history of osteoporosis
  • Women already diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis
  • Perimenopausal women with low estrogen and/or low progesterone
  • Women and men who are hypothyroid
  • Women and men under stress with elevated adrenal cortisol levels
  • Women and men on medications such as prednisone and proton pump inhibitors (Prilosec, Nexium, Prevacid, etc)
  • Those suffering excess body inflammation due to food sensitivities such as to gluten (wheat) and dairy

Our Customized Bone Building Program:

When assessing bone loss, it is essential to also address adrenal gland health and sex hormone balance, as well as urinary bone loss. Our program includes:

  • Bone Health Consultation
