TCC Offers 100-Hour Acupuncture Certification Program

December 9, 2015 - PASADENA, Texas

The Division of Postgraduate Studies at Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) is offering a 100-hour acupuncture certification program which is scheduled to begin in January 2016.

The program, spread out over a six month period, will be taught on the TCC campus. Meetings are scheduled for 9:00AM – 7:00PM on Saturdays and 8:00AM – 4:00PM on Sundays in the Learning Resource Center, Room 205. Each weekend session will address topics related to the practice of acupuncture.

The first session, scheduled for January 30-31, 2016, will provide an introduction to the history, scientific basis and philosophy of acupuncture, along with a discussion of meridians and major points, clean needle technic and risk management.

The Midday-Midnight law, Lung Meridian, Large Intestine Meridian, Stomach Meridian and Spleen Meridian will be topics of instruction during the February 27-28 session. The heart, small intestine, bladder and kidney meridians will be the focus of March 12-13’s session, while the pericardium, triple heater, gall bladder and liver meridians will guide instruction delivered on April 23-24.

The May 20-21 session will focus on the ren and du meridians, along with the five elements and laser therapy/microsystems. In the final June 18-19 session, the 8 influential points, ghost points, ear acupuncture and auriculotherapy will round out the required sessions.

Participants will attend each of the six weekend sessions, and the program requires completion of a mandatory written assignment which will count towards four hours of credit. There is also a bonus module which will be offered at the 2016 Annual TCC Convention at The Woodlands, which is set for July 14-16, 2016. Only the first session and bonus session will be submitted for relicensure credit in Texas.

Participants are required to complete 100 hours of the program in order to obtain certification. Each weekend session is $170 for students and $320 for doctors. There is also a $100 lab fee for notes, flash drive and needles. The lab fee is payable during the first session of the program.
