It's almost here...

... Or is already here?

The Season of Giving.

I was just reading about how "a large meta-analysis by Morris Okun and his  colleagues have found that volunteering reduces the risk of death by 24 percent."**

And now we are in the season of giving and volunteering.

Looking at the above information and a ton of other evidence about the powerful impact giving has on our physical health, it would seem that this time of year should be the healthiest time.

How is it then that we think of the holidays as the opposite:  stress stress stress from shopping and hosting family/friends, school's out so kids are home all day for weeks, and the food and candy and hot choco galore, gonna gain a few pounds, skip a few days of the diet and exercise, and the list goes on...

What if we flipped this upside though?

What would today look like in our lives?

What might we do differently today?

Can we be the mentally and physically healthiest we've ever been all year right now by thinking of others  and how we can help them along the way?

Blessings,

Dr  Asa

P.S. - The link above (and HERE in reference to the above quote) is not a reflection of my theological beliefs or a study of various world religions to debate or that I am intending to endorse or evangelize.  So maybe if interested in it, then we can approach it as just two old guys talking about Joy. LOL :)  (think they would appreciate that approach as they seem to enjoy laughing about themselves, too.)
