Get In The Car The Correct Way!

Get in the Car... Right!

Did you know that there is a proper way to get in and out of your car? Well, believe it or not, there is, and it is especially important that seniors and those who have back pain or arthritis practice these simple maneuvers to enter and exit a car safely, and prevent injury

• Swivel in and out – Enter the car backwards and then swing your legs into the car in front of your seat. Reverse this order to get out of the car.

• Use the handles on the inside of the car – Holding on to these handles as you get in or out of the car helps you maintain your balance and gives you leverage to properly get your body in the right position. .

• Use running boards – Many SUVs, trucks and vans come with side running boards that you can step up on to get into the car. If your car is high, and you have difficulty “climbing” into your seat, consider installing them to help you get in and out with ease..

It is important that you give yourself enough time to get to your car if you have a condition that is aggravated by getting in and out of your car.  When you are in a rush, you tend to compromise your posture or body position, which may lead to further aggravating an already painful condition.  Twisting or bending in an improper fashion over and over again will ultimately result in stresses placed on the lower back and hips that can become very painful and problematic.

Also keep in mind that chiropractic care keeps your nervous system running the way it is intended to and that regular adjustments often relieve the pain associated with arthritic conditions or other biomechanical issues, helping to make driving to no be a pain in the butt, or neck, or back!!!

Testimonial

  • "I started to come to Dr. Phil because I have a lot of problems with my neck. When I come, he gives me tremendous relief. I don’t suffer from headaches anymore because he adjusts my neck, which is very, very hard to adjust. He has massage therapists that have also helped me a lot, so I am really, really grateful for Dr. Phill."
