Sciatica

The sciatic nerve is a combination of nerves that exit the spine in the low back and pelvic area and run down the back of the leg.  When the nerve becomes irritated and painful we call it Sciatica.  Commonly the sciatic nerve gets pinched or irritated when the vertebra in the lower back become out of alignment and "pinch" the nerve.  Chiropractors help sciatica by evaluating the spine and locating where the nerve irritation is happening and then correcting the misalignment in the spine that is pinching the nerve.  This correction called an adjustment is typically very gentle and comfortable for the patient.
