5 Common Chiropractic Techniques for Back and Neck Pain

Living with neck and back pain prevents us from living life to its fullest. We shy away from activities we would normally do because we are in too much pain. The good news, however, is that there is chiropractic treatment for neck and back pain.

Our team at Campion Chiropractic serves the Bryan/College Station area and provides an integrated approach to healing back and neck pain. To learn about some of the most common techniques we use to treat this type of pain, continue reading.

Neck Pain and Back Pain Common Treatment Methods:

The Gonstead Technique: For this technique, the patient lies on his side. Using a manual adjustment motion, the chiropractor repositions the joints. The Gonstead technique is used to correct a specific problem by realigning the spine. This results in less pain and inflammation.

The Graston Technique: This method uses a slight scraping and massaging motion to reduce the time it takes to heal from an injury. It improves range of motion and heals soft tissue that has been damaged.

Soft Tissue Therapy: Typically applied after a spinal adjustment, soft tissue therapy gently applies pressure to inflamed joints. This helps manipulate the spine by increasing circulation and eliminating body toxins. Chiropractic care during this technique focuses on the ligaments, rather than on the spine to treat neck pain and back pain.

Spinal Decompression Therapy: This is a decompression table that eases the pain caused by stress on the musculoskeletal system.  If you suffer from arthritis or a ruptured or herniated disc, this technique works well for back pain, neck pain and radiating arm and leg pain. It feels good to have the neck and back stretched and aligned and reduces pressure on the discs and nerves. In fact, it has been clinically proven that this therapy relieves the joint dysfunction that causes neck pain and back pain.

The Thompson Technique: During this technique, the patient lies flat on a padded table while the chiropractor gently applies pressure to the neck and back using light drop technique.  This is especially helpful for patients who cannot have manual adjustments due to their conditions.
