Pregnancy Webster Technique

Pregnancy Care

Dr. Alyssa is passionate about working with pregnancy to improve your function before, during, and after pregnancy. Chiropractic care during pregnancy can decrease your labor time and aid in you and your baby's comfort and ease during delivery.

Dr. Alyssa is certified in the Webster Technique. The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that decreases interference to the nervous system and balances the pelvic muscles, ligaments, and bone structures. The Webster Technique helps prevent and reduce intra-uterine constraint, allowing your baby to move in-utero without restriction or constraint. When your baby is able to move without restriction in-utero, your baby is able to get into the best possible position for birth, making delivery safer, faster, and easier on mom, baby, and everyone else involved.

During pregnancy, Dr. Alyssa will focus on addressing altered biomechanics, balancing your pelvic girdle and decreasing intra-uterine constraint. This will allow your body to adapt to internal and external stresses, and allow for a safer and less complicated birth. Chiropractic care has been shown to be safe for both mother and unborn children. Having your nervous system checked by a chiropractic physician helps to ensure that your pelvis is moving correctly to allow optimum room for your baby to grow and develop. Dr. Alyssa does not perform x-rays of your spine (acknowledging that you are pregnant) and techniques will be modified to accommodate your growing belly.

Chiropractic adjustments and nutrition are just as important pre and post pregnancy as they are during pregnancy. Make an appointment with Dr. Alyssa prior to getting pregnant to make sure your body is able and ready to conceive. Post-pregnancy visits are important for balancing biomechanics, hormones, and nutrition.

It has been reported that there may be a relationship between back pain throughout pregnancy and a longer duration of the labor and delivery process. A retrospective review of statistics reported that primigravida (first birth) women who seek chiropractic care throughout gestation have, on average, a 25% shorter labor time whereas multiparous (one or more previous births) women who seek chiropractic care throughout their pregnancy have, on average, 31% shorter labor times. Hallelujah!!
