FAQ: Chiropractic Care

           chiropractic care

Chiropractic care is a popular choice for those dealing with chronic neck or back pain or new pain from an accident or injury. In fact, the American Chiropractic Association estimates that there will be approximately 80,000 practicing chiropractors in the U.S. by the year 2020. In addition, a study by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services found that almost 20 million people in the U.S. have been treated by a chiropractor, during the previous year alone!

Though chiropractic care has been around for quite some time, it is still new to some people. Dr. Gady Abramson and our team at Back to Mind in Hollywood, FL often receive questions from people about what chiropractic care is and how it can help them. We want you to be “in the know” when it comes to chiropractic care, so here are some FAQ’s from our patients to help you understand the science a little better from your favorite Florida chiropractor.

The FAQ’s About Chiropractic Care

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a natural form of healthcare offered today by Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs), that uses spinal adjustments and manipulation to help restore proper function and help your body heal naturally without the need for prescription drugs or surgery. Chiropractic care is helpful for a variety of health issues but is best known to help those with back pain, neck pain, and chronic headaches.

  • Does a Chiropractic Adjustment Hurt? - No, chiropractic adjustments do not typically hurt. However, those who are seeking an adjustment from our Hollywood chiropractor are often already having an issue that is causing them pain. Although you may experience a brief moment of discomfort, relief is often felt when the joints are realigned, and the muscles relax. You may experience a mild soreness for a few days, much as you would after physical exercise, but the pain is greatly reduced.
  • Is Chiropractic Care Safe? - Yes, chiropractic care is known to be safe. In fact, chiropractic adjustments are considered to be extremely safe, when compared to various other types of pain management. A lot of the safety of chiropractic care is due to its focus on an all-natural, non-medicinal, non-invasive approach.  Chiropractors make it their goal to help their patients create a wellness and prevention plan to keep them as healthy as possible.
  • How Many Treatments Do I Need? - A chiropractor may provide a patient with acute, chronic, and/or preventive chiropractic care. The wellness plan is unique for each person but often requires several office visits. Your chiropractor can tell you his treatment plan and how many visits to expect.
  • How Long is a Typical Session with a Chiropractor? - The length of chiropractic visit depends on the type of treatment you will be receiving and what (if any) additional therapies are needed. As a general rule, though, the total time spent at the chiropractor should range from about 20 minutes to an hour.
