What do Chiropractors do?
Chiropractors are specialized in finding and removing nerve disturbance in your nervous system called subluxations. Your body is a self-healing, self-regulating, and self-developing organism. That means you don't have to think about a cut healing on your finger or your digestive system breaking down food into nutrients for your body. There is an internal intelligence that runs the body. Another fact is that your nervous system is the master controller of your body. It controls every cell, tissue, organ, and system, in the body --even the Immune System.
So if there is an interference in your nervous system, then your body will not be able to heal or regulate like it is suppose to. Subluxations are an interference in your nervous system that need to be removed so that your body can function as close to 100% as possible. This is the true meaning of optimum health, a body working at or close to 100%.
What causes Subluxations?
Subluxations are a result of negative lifestyle stresses. There are three major categories that these stresses fall into:
Physical (Trauma)- What you do to your body
Biochemical (Toxins)- What you put in your body
Psychological (Thoughts)- How you respond to situations in life
When these stresses combine and overwhelm your body's ability to process them, you develop subluxations. Check out the Six Essentials to learn more on how to lessen or prevent the causes of subluxations.
A good analogy would be an electrical system in your house. When a power surge stresses the system, a circuit breaker trips to prevent the house from burning down. What if the circuit went to the refrigerator? The food inside would start to spoil unless you get the power back on before it is too late. The problem is not the refrigerator but the power to it.
The tripped circuit breaker disrupts the refrigerator's power source preventing it from operating efficiently. In regard to your body, when interference (or a subluxation) is present, your nervous system is underpowered. An underpowered nervous system limits the body's ability to operate, and your health begins to "spoil."
