Your First Visit To The Chiropractor

Patient Forms

Upon entering our office, our receptionist will  welcome you as a member of our family.  We will request that you complete our new patient forms online. This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition.

Consultation

Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. Rodrigo A. Imana to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and how you can maximize your life. This initial visit is designed for Dr. Rodrigo A. Imana to learn more about you, your cares, your concerns, and  expectations to determine if NUCCA is right for you.

Examination

After your consultation, Dr. Rodrigo A. Imana will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes and flexibility. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. However, nothing  will be done in our office  without your consent.

3D X-Ray NUCCA Series

If it is determined that you are a candidate for the specialty and would benefit from NUCCA spinal health care, the specific series of 3D X-Rays is performed and mathematically analyzed before your first spinal correction. The NUCCA x-ray series involves safety procedures that use low technique settings along with specially designed filters to further reduce x-ray exposure to the patient.

Report of Findings (Typically done the following day)

Once the information is collected  and examinations are performed, Dr. Rodrigo A. Imana will give you a detailed report of all findings and answer any questions including:

  1. How can you help me?
  2. How often do I need to come in?
  3. What  will  my care cost?

After reviewing your health history,  goals, and examining your spine and 3D X-Rays, Dr. Rodrigo A. Imana will discuss recommendations and will  provide the best  care and  wellness program for your needs.

Your NUCCA Correction

At the conclusion of this initial  appointment, you can choose to  experience our Specialized NUCCA Procedure.  Dr. Rodrigo A. Imana will have you lie on the adjusting table on your side and position your head in a very specific fashion. This is based on the information obtained from the x-rays. The doctor will then be positioned in a specific stance, which is again determined from the x-ray analysis, and place their hand near your ear. This is where the side of the atlas or 1st neck vertebra is located. The doctor will apply a number of very light and subtle corrections that move the spinal bones of the neck very carefully. The table does not move once the doctor has adjusted the headpiece to the proper position. There is no discernable pushing or twisting in the correction, nothing rapid or abrupt. The patient will often feel light pressure at the contact. The correction usually takes a few minutes to perform. It takes very little shifting of the bones to relieve nerve pressure.

Because it's important to receive the best possible correction on your first visit, the doctor will take two post x-rays following the initial correction. These films will show the doctor how the spine responded to the first spinal correction. This is typically done only after your first correction.

Wellness Program

Prior to leaving, the doctor will suggest a  wellness program  to incorporate outside of treatment.  If you are in pain when you first come into our office this may include: ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, and at home exercises and/or stretches.  If you desire,  our wellness team will work with you also to create healthy habits and routines for your lifestyle.  Every person is unique, therefore everyone requires a  customized wellness plan.  The purpose  of our wellness program is for   you  to achieve good spinal alignment, have a  healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a positive mental state.
