On Purpose

For some reason it is so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life and totally forget what we came here to do.  I have a strong knowing that each and every one of us has a unique and distinctive purpose to fulfill in our own lives as we enhance the lives of others.  We tend to forget that  when we are constantly thinking about what bills need to be paid, which car needs an oil change, which kid needs support, and which blood test needs to be checked up on.  Maybe we all just need to take a few steps back and look at our lives from a totally different perspective once in a while.  When you're deep in the thick of daily life, it becomes difficult to see the big picture without really physically stopping, and taking a proverbial step back.  Have you ever been looking at a map on your computer and then clicked on the zoom out option?  You can go from  tiny lines and confusing roads all over to…oh, THAT'S where I am!  All by taking that step backward to view the big picture.

One of my favorite things to do when I get stuck in a piddly, boring, mundane, and maybe even annoying situation, is (and I actually want you to experience this process so do it with me as you read) first to ask myself this question:  What do I need to release right not to be fully on my path and purpose?  I am instantly reminded to let go of all negative and non-serving beliefs such as complaining, procrastination, or heartache.  I release caring about what others think of me as I know that if I am truly doing what I came to this earth to do, what others think of me will not hurt me, and besides that, its none of my business!  I then release any worry or concern I have about reaching my goals.  Because again if my goals are God's goals, there's surely no need for worrying.  I remind myself that I have everything I could ever need.  I am totally taken care of and there are no limits to the amazing things life has to offer.  Lastly I remember to always love, no matter what.   I then imagine myself and my energy beginning to expand as big as the room I am in.  Then I expand further to fill the building I am in.  And then further to expand out to encompass the city I am in.  And further to include the state, then the country (all the while taking nice deep oxygenated breaths), and then I imagine myself and my energy encompassing the world and beyond.  At this point I send love to everyone in the world.  Still deeply breathing and feeling very expanded, I try again to think about the project I may have been working on.  Every time, the project or situation turns into peanuts!  Here I am as big as the world, sending love to everyone, and receiving love at the same time, and I was worried about that?!  Coming back to reality then, any problems, concerns, and/or things needing to get done are basically nothingness.  And not only that, but they are so much easier to get accomplished!

So no matter what you have going on in your life, take a step back, look at the big picture, notice the amazing things you have done for others and for yourself.  Feel that burning purpose inside of you-wake it up if you haven't felt it in a while!  Keep your purpose alive and move ahead with peace, joy, and confidence.
