The 5 Reasons Why You FAILED at Your New Year's Weight Loss Resolution

You know, I truly don't like to use negative words-EVER, but when it comes to weight loss, I hear the word FAILED over and over again. Like a broken record. Too many of you are giving up and just chalking it up to 'poor me, it's just too hard…well at least I tried'. Of course my heart is filled with love and compassion for those of you who have been down this road. I understand that losing weight truly is not a picnic. But listen, I'm going to get a bit harsh with you for a moment and I want you to hear me out. Guess what, it's not just about YOU. Being overweight can lead you right into the top 3 leading causes of death which are Heart Disease/Stroke, High Blood Pressure, and Cancer. Wanting to lose weight just to make your 'ex' jealous, is a thing of the past. Now that childhood obesity has DOUBLED in the past 20 years, and Diabetes has taken over the slot for 4th leading cause of death in America, SOMETHING HAS TO CHANGE. Who's going to take care of you when you find yourself in one of these health predicaments? You need to fix this or you're not only causing yourself ill health, but you're having to depend on others to take care of you. If we take a look at the top 5 reasons why you haven't been able to reach and maintain your ideal weight, you can enlighten yourself and turn the entire thing around. It's not rocket science, but it does take a willing participant to make the changes.

1. You're still confused about what to eat and when. The biggest part of this is that you have been inundated to believe (even if it is subconsciously) that eating FAT will make you FAT, and eating SALT will give you a disease. Nothing could be farther from the truth. To lose weight you need to be eating RAW forms of fat (in case you didn't know, raw means NOT COOKED!) like coconut oil, olive oil, avocados, raw soaked nuts/seeds, etc. And you must have highly mineralized salt (Himalayan or Celtic) especially at the end of each day. Disclaimer: if you are used to eating lots of 'bad' salt/sodium, you will need to cut that out completely and ease into the good stuff, and of course you need to stay hydrated.

2. Your liver is a sluggish pile of rubbish. Guess what?! Your liver is your chief fat burning organ. If it's full of toxins, you can yo-yo diet all you want, but you'll never reach your goal until you clean that thing out!

3. You forgot to trick your hypothalamus. If you're going to be seriously successful, you have to change your current weight 'SET POINT'. Your body and brain are used to being at a certain weight. That means you may be able to reach a goal, but you will end up gaining it back. Before starting a diet you know is successful for you, you need to calorie load for at least two days and then you MUST stick with your diet for a minimum of 21 days afterward.

4. You have little to no plan. Going about losing weight with a plan of will-powering your way through eating less or avoiding certain things leads to another big huge 'F'. You've been there. You may even be there now. You end up getting just slightly off track and feeling so guilty that you start a depressed emotional binge and before you know it, your New Year's diet turns into an extra 10 pounds of pure UN-satisfaction.

5. You have no accountability. I truly believe this is the most important aspect of successful weight loss. I don't care how determined you are, 98% of you can not do this alone! As human beings we were designed to help each other. To hold up each other's intentions. To keep each other accountable. An accountability partner will help.
