Dutch Red Cabbage

The cabbage in this dish is drizzled with an unique blend of flavors and cooked along with apple quarters making this a very delicious addition to any meal.
Ingredients

  • 1 medium red cabbage, shredded
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon stevia
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 apples, peeled and quartered
  • 2 tablespoons organic butter
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar

Instructions

  1. Rinse cabbage with water and place in a heavy pan.
  2. In a small saucepan, mix bay leaf, cloves, salt, stevia, and cinnamon with water and bring to a boil
  3. Pour over the cabbage and cook gently for about 20 minutes. Add the apple and cook another 10 minutes.
  4. Remove the cabbage with a slotted spoon to a heated serving dish and toss with the butter and vinegar. Serve warm.
