FAQ

How does chiropractic work?

Chiropractic health is centered on the body’s natural ability to heal on its own. No drugs or surgery required! This is accomplished through the relationship between the spine & nervous system, and its affect on the health of the body & mind.

Will chiropractic work for me?

Millions of people worldwide are helped everyday through chiropractic health techniques. Chiropractors focus on optimizing the relationship between the spine & nervous system; thus many different health conditions can be helped through regular chiropractic treatment. Of course, no guarantees are offered to cure your particular health condition or pain.

Does a chiropractor only help with back pain?

No. Because chiropractic treats the spine, and thus all bodily functions, health conditions of all types can be treated. This includes:

  • neck pain,
  • back pain,
  • extremity pain – hands and feet,
  • headaches & migraines,
  • poor range of motion,
  • stiff or spasming muscles,
  • arthritis or painful joints,
  • poor performance or low energy,
  • stress and anxiety,
  • bad balance,
  • inflammation in the intestine, stomach, tissues, or other areas,
  • ear infections,
  • women suffering from painful menstruation,
  • and more!
Does a chiropractor hurt his patients?

No. Actually, many patients receive relief from painful health symptoms right after their first visit to a chiropractor. Of course, any health procedure can cause discomfort. Rest assured that every treatment you receive at the Colorado Springs Spine & Injury Clinic will be explained thoroughly beforehand, and your comfort is assured.

What can help me feel better or be pain free?

A complete examination of your unique health is required. What helps one person may not help another. Therefore, we treat you as an individual; your treatment plan will include solutions for your specific needs. Chiropractors are highly trained in diagnosis and treatment of soft tissue injuries, spinal injuries, and general health. If your condition warrants care from a different specialist, we will happily recommend you to the appropriate provider.

How long does a chiropractic appointment take?

Your 1st time examination is the process we use to assess your individual needs. The first visit usually includes X-rays (if necessary), a full orthopedic & neurological examination, complete interview, and your treatment plan. The first visit is 45 minutes to an hour; subsequent visits are shorter.

How much money does chiropractic care cost?

According to numerous studies, chiropractic patients spend far less on their care than those who use medical care only. Of course, your costs will vary based on the number of treatments you need. We’d be happy to discuss your unique financial situation.

How many times do I have to visit a chiropractor?

The length of your particular treatment will vary based on your condition and body. Some patients require only 3-4 visits, while others need 12 or more. A new injury is usually treated faster than a longstanding health problem. Many patients enjoy the relief they get from chiropractic visits so much that they visit us regularly, even after their symptoms have subsided. Similar to a dentist or other medical profession, prevention is key. Periodic visits to a chiropractor can prevent injury, reduce stress and keep your health intact.

Problems don’t just “go-away.” Make an appointment today to get started on the road to recovery.

Is chiropractic treatment safe?

From infants to centenarians, chiropractic treatment is safe. Using our natural method of care and thorough explanation process, we believe that chiropractic care is the one of the safest methods of treatment available.

How do chiropractors compare to medical doctors?

Chiropractors learn from an extensive training & education program. This demanding and rigorous schooling is similar to the education that medical doctors experience, without the requirements of pharmacology or surgery. The following demonstrates a typical chiropractors journey to becoming a licensed medical practitioner.

  • 2-4 years of premed undergraduate training & study. Each college and state licensing board has different requirements for the length this requires.
  • 4-5 years of academic study at a reputable chiropractic college.
    • Included in this program is extensive training in:
      • anatomy,
      • physiology,
      • pathology,
      • neurology,
      • radiology,
      • differential diagnosis,
      • chiropractic adjustive techniques,
      • biomechanics ,
      • and other health-related studies.
  • Real world experience is required from those practicing chiropractic. Each student completes several hundred hours of patient management. Supervision by a professional chiropractor takes place during this period.
    • Many colleges of chiropractic also require that an aspiring chiropractor participate as an intern in an actual chiropractic office to further test & refine the needed clinical and chiropractic skill set.
  • National and State Board examinations are required for any chiropractor prior to obtaining a chiropractic license.
  • Most states ensure that chiropractors can’t just rest on their laurels. Receiving continual education is important for any field, with chiropractic being no exception. Annual training to maintain high competency levels is required for chiropractors to continue practicing medicine.

At the Colorado Springs Spine & Injury Clinic, Ron Salvaggione continuously refines his craft by undertaking some of the most rigorous training available.

What is a vertical subluxation?

The National Board of Chiropractic Examiners states

“The specific focus of chiropractic practice is known as the chiropractic subluxation or joint dysfunction. A subluxation is a health concern that manifests in the skeletal joints, and, through complex anatomical and physiological relationships, affects the nervous system and may lead to reduced function, disability or illness.”

Do chiropractors use the scientific method?

Yes. Since the beginning of the profession of chiropractic, chiropractors have striven to perform safe and effective treatments to improve the health of their patients. To achieve this goal, scientific studies are conducted to improve diagnostic methods, treatments, economic benefits and safety methods.
