Table massage can be in increments of 25 or 50 minutes in length.

Your massage session will be conducted by a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist. NYS requires completion of a 1000 hr. program certificate from an accredited massage school, with a NYS licensure exam.

Comfortable clothing is recommended.

Massage work is typically performed with the client unclothed. You decide what level of comfort is right for you. You will be appropriately draped at all times. Most people undress completely, while some leave some clothing on such as underwear. Your privacy is respected at all times.

The therapist will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with the table sheet and blanket. Should you need assistance, due to a weakened condition, getting undressed/dressed, on or off the table your therapist will assist you.

You will be draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the part of the body that is receiving the work will be exposed while the rest of your body remains cove

You and the therapist will discuss the desired outcome. This will determine which parts of the body will require massage. A typical full body massage session will include work on your back, arms, legs, head, neck and shoulders.

A light oil or lotion will be used to reduce excessive friction to the skin and allow smooth strokes. The lubricants used also help to hydrate the skin. If you are allergic to certain oils or scents, please notify your therapist.

It depends on the techniques used. In general your massage session may start with broad flowing strokes to begin the relaxation process. Pressure will be gradually increased to relax specific areas and release tight muscle bands. It is extremely important that the pressure always be within your comfort level. Should you wish to receive less or more pressure at anytime, you should communicate this to your therapist.

In general you will feel relaxed with a greater sense of ease of movement. Some will feel sleepy and may wish to take a nap, while others nay have a tremendous sense of energy immediately. Sometimes a renewed sense of energy will occur the next day. Some may “feel a little drunk” or “high.” Depending on the individual and the type and duration of the massage, the effects are many.

Occasionally, some people may be sore/tender in places the next day, depending on the type of massage and degree of pressure they received. It is extremely important to communicate with your therapist if the pressure is uncomfortable at any time. Additional fluids following massage may reduce these symptoms, should they occur. These symptoms will usually subside by the following day.

There is no rule on how often a person should receive massage. Typically once a month or more is an average. For those people with an acute condition, massage may be indicated up to three times a week.
