I Knew I Had Made the Right Choice

While growing up, my best friend’s dad was a chiropractor. I had exposure to chiropractic just a few times from him with injuries from various sports. In high school I had more care with injuries with wrestling and football.

Always, I was amazed with how chiropractic could help me get back to participation fast and help keep me there through the injuries that came with each season. Once I got to Palmer College and learned the true philosophy and the true health benefits of chiropractic care, I knew I had made the right choice.

I did my undergraduate studies at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. After that, I pursued chiropractic studies at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. Since graduating, I have completed over 400 hours in post-graduate studies in the Gonstead system.

Living a Healthy Active Life

I have four girls who keep us busy with everything from gymnastics and dance to cheer leading! My own hobbies include golf, water skiing, hunting, snowmobiling, exercising, and anything else I can do outdoors.

I get adjusted once a week. I exercise five days a week in the gym and I spend weekends doing family activities for exercising. Everyday, I eat six meals and drink a gallon of water. My family eats as many organic and healthy “real” food as possible. None of our kids have been vaccinated; none of them have ever taken any antibiotics. And, as busy as they are in activities, they display a good level of health. IN addition, all of my kids have been checked for subluxations and been adjusted since the day they were born!

Enough about me! I hope I get an opportunity to meet you in person and discuss your specific health challenge. I am confident that I can help you with today’s safe and natural chiropractic care. Give our office a call so we can help you take your first step towards better health.

Whose Life Could You Save By Sharing Your Chiropractic Story?

I grew up in Atikokan, a small town in NW Ontario Canada.  I completed my BSc Degree at Dalhousie University in Halifax Nova Scotia, and moved to Des Moines after completing my Doctor of Chiropractic Degree at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington MN.  My desire to contribute to a health care team that promotes living a wellness lifestyle, and uses the Gonstead Chiropractic system lead me to join Hassel Family Chiropractic.

To best serve my patients, I have completed hundreds of hours of specialty studies in Pregnancy, Pediatrics, and Gonstead Chiropractic.  I am also passionate about reducing daily chemical exposure, detoxification, and using traditional nutrition to maximize healing.  My focus is on health and wellness of the whole person, and I engage my patients in self-care to correct the cause of their concerns rather than only manage the symptoms.

Outside of the office I follow the same chiropractic wellness lifestyle I recommend in the office.  My priorities are to be checked by my chiropractor once a week (or more if under a lot of physical, mental, or emotional stress), eat a whole food diet, aim for 7-8 hours of sleep a night, intense workouts 3-5 times a week, as well as physical and mental restoration exercises daily.  I have always been involved in various athletics, but am currently a nationally qualified NPC Bikini Competitor.  I’m aiming to achieve professional qualification this year … wish me luck!  Having been raised up North, for fun I love wilderness activities like fishing, lake/ cabin life, outdoor running, hiking, as well as spending quality time with good company, family, and friends.  Fun Facts:  I was a wildland forest firefighter for 7 summers in NW Ontario, and also lived and taught science in Rwanda Africa for four months in 2008.

I believe everyone can create vibrant health and energy, be happy, and enjoy each day to the fullest.  One of the greatest challenges in achieving these goals is whether dysfunction or illness is present in the body.   My chiropractic mission is to help as many families as possible achieve a state of optimal health, which enables each of us to do the work necessary to achieve our life dreams!

I believe a community is only as strong as its weakest members.  To help strengthen the health and wellness of our local community, we host fun, insightful, and inspiring community health and wellness events in our office and around the community.  Our “Community Outreach & Corporate Wellness Program” includes visits to community and business groups to educate the public about making healthy lifestyle choices and changes.

Please contact Dr. Lacey Gillies at (515)-270-6222 if you have any questions, or would like to schedule an event or seminar for your group.
