Orthopedic Q & A

by KenGee Ehrlich, DC

What’s the difference between chiropractic and orthopedic doctors?

Doctors of Chiropractic are the only health professionals trained to treat spinal misalignment. Since the spine carries nerves and blood vessels that impact the health of muscles, ligaments, and tendons, chiropractic adjustments to the spine treat many orthopedic conditions.

Dr. KenGee provides many of the same services you’d expect at the orthopedic clinic, like in-office digital X-rays and training in corrective exercise. He also offers vital wellness advantages you won’t find at most orthopedic clinics — expert nutrition advice, lifestyle counseling, and preventive spine screening.

Orthopedic physicians provide medical treatment. They’re the specialist you need if you have torn ligaments or tendons, broken bones, or an underlying condition that requires medication. When you don’t need medical attention, experts agree that orthopedic specialists can confidently refer many neck and back cases to a chiropractor.

When you visit The Good Chiropractor, Dr. KenGee and his staff provide a thorough evaluation of your condition. If your medical history and diagnostic screening indicate the need for medical treatment, we’ll work with you to find a trusted orthopedic specialist, collaborate in your treatment plan, and get you back on the road to wellness.

What orthopedic conditions are treated by chiropractic adjustment?

Dr. KenGee has expertise in multiple types of chiropractic techniques that can be used to treat many orthopedic conditions, relieving pain caused by:

  • Upper back and neck pain
  • Whiplash injury
  • Lower back pain
  • Herniated disc
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Tennis elbow
  • Shoulder pain and frozen shoulder
  • Osteoporosis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Plantar fasciitis

What can I expect at my first visit to The Good Chiropractor?

Our first priority is always to relieve your pain, but first we need to get your medical history. Then you’ll meet with Dr. KenGee, who will talk with you and conduct a thorough chiropractic examination. Depending on your problem and treatment goals, he may order orthopedic tests, X-rays, or other diagnostic procedures. After Dr. KenGee finishes this initial examination and obtains test results, he’ll recommend a treatment plan. If you agree, we’ll create a schedule and begin chiropractic treatment.

Don’t wait until your orthopedic problems turn into severe pain and disability. Come in for a consultation with Dr. KenGee before symptoms appear. A spinal assessment and chiropractic adjustment can help prevent orthopedic conditions from developing.
