See Our Chiropractor For Backpack Safety

School is back in session, and one of the things that kids get most excited about is getting a new backpack. Every year, new design backpacks are coming out with their favorite characters on them. Most kids want to make sure that they can keep up with their friends. Of course, with a new school year comes new books as well. This can cause problems for your child, and everyone in the Portsmouth area needs to keep some important points in mind when it comes to backpack safety. Our chiropractic team at Atlantic Chiropractic Center is here to help kids and parents understand backpacks safety.

Backpack Safety is Important for Back Posture

Children need to have proper posture when they are using their backpacks. Some of the most important tips to keep in mind include:

  • Try to keep the weight of the backpack as light as possible by leaving unused books either at home or at school. A light backpack is good for the back.
  • Make sure to wear both straps at the same time. These straps are there for a reason. Try to balance the weight across both shoulders to prevent injury.
  • Ensure that the backpack is the appropriate size. The backpack should not hang more than four inches below the waist or be wider than the body.
