When Do I Need A Chiropractor

When Do I Need To See A Chiropractor?

Because Chiropractors specialize in treating physical problems they are especially effective for traumatic injuries or joint pain and stiffness in the neck, back, shoulders, arms and legs. Chiropractic is also effective for other physical problems like headaches, migraines, tight muscles and numbness in the arms or legs. Frankly, if you drive your body long enough down the road of life you are going to hit a few bumps. These bumps can cause misalignments or subluxations of the body. When this happens you will notice pain, pulling or tightness on one side versus the other. If the body does not correct itself in a day or so, it is time to make an appointment with your Chiropractor.

Failure to get an adjustment can result in an unfortunate consequences. What happens to the spine is the same thing that happens to the tires on your car when they are out of alignment. This premature wear and tear on the spine is called arthritis. X-rays of someone with osteoarthritis actually shows how the joints are prematurely worn forming osteophytes and spurs. Once this premature wear has occurred, there is no way to reverse it. The Chiropractic adjustment is essential to help align the spine and keep this natural degenerative process at a minimum.

Another good time to see your Chiropractor is when your body just isn't working all that well. Remember, part of the subluxation complex comes from the scientific fact that there are a pair of nerves that come out between every one of the 26 movable segments of your spine. These nerves are the traffic lights of the body because they tell all the organs and tissues of your body what to do and when to do it. When a traffic light is working well it allows the body to do what is was designed to do, be healthy. An improperly functioning nerve can cause a traffic jam in the body, which can be the beginnings of poor health and disease. A good example is when you've had a cold for more than a week. This is not normal and definitely not OK. Having frequent headaches, sinusitis, allergies, asthma attacks, vertigo, heart burn, digestive complaints, excessive fatigue and frequent infections are all signs that there are traffic jams in the body. Remember, your body is more intelligent than any doctor you will ever meet. Chiropractic releases this nervous energy to allow the body to do what it was meant to be, Healthy!

How often do I need to see a Chiropractor? Many people say that they only need to see a Chiropractor when they are in pain. However, in many cases of poor health there isn't any pain or symptoms involved. This is especially true for premature degeneration of the spine, heart disease and cancer. I often say that if you have one member of a team that isn't doing their part, who is it that complains? Usually it is not the one who is the cause of the problem. Consequently, it is very important not to just treat the symptoms, but actually look for the underlying cause of the problem. Another reason you may not feel any pain is because only about 20% of the fibers in a nerve carry pain, which means that you could have up to 80% of your normal function and health being interfered with without ever having any pain. This is why having a chiropractic check up at least once every 2-3 months is so important. If you do not have a Chiropractic problem, your Chiropractor is trained to be able to recognize that as well as make the proper referral to another specialist. For this reason it is important to have a good chiropractor that you can trust to be the guardian of your health. Our office prides itself on showing you what a difference a Chiropractic adjustment can make.
