There was a very interesting study performed by a skeptical MD back in 1921. Dr. Widsor, questioned whether chiropractor claims of helping with visceral complaints such as heart disease, liver dysfunction, asthma, digestive complaints and many more were actually supported by research. Well, he set out to prove that these claims by chiropractors were false but what he discovered was quite the opposite. In a series of three studies through the University of Pennsylvania, he dissected a total of 75 human and 72 cat cadavers and found 221 structures other than the spine were diseased. He found a nearly 100% correlation between “minor curvatures” of the vertebrae and disease of the internal organs. Some of the disease categories were:
HEART DISEASE- All 20 cases with heart and pericardium conditions had the upper five thoracic vertebrae misaligned(T1-T5).
LUNG DISEASE- All 26 cases of lung disease had spinal misalignments in the upper thoracic area(Upper Back).
STOMACH DISEASE- All 9 cases of stomach conditions had spinal misalignments in the mid-thoracic area (T5-T9).
LIVER DISEASE- All 13 cases of liver disease had misalignments in the mid-thoracic area (T5-T9).
GALL BLADDER – All 5 cases with gallstone disease had spinal misalignments in the mid thoracic area (T5-T9).
PANCREAS- All 3 cases with pancreatic disease had spinal misalignments in the mid thoracic area (T5-T9).
SPLEEN- All 11 cases with spleen disease had spinal misalignments in the mid thoracic area (T5-T9).
KIDNEY- All 17 cases with kidney disease had misalignments in the lower thoracic area (T10-T12)
PROSTATE AND BLADDER DISEASE- All 8 cases with prostate and bladder disease had lumbar vertebrae misaligned(L1-L3).
UTERUS- the 2 cases with uterine conditions had the second lumbar misaligned.
Dr. Windsor’s results were published in “The Medical Times” (1921, 49 pp267-271). Other researchers have confirmed his discovery
