In October of 2017, Dr. Christopher Amoruso traveled to Chicago, IL to complete his training to become a Certified GAPS™ Practitioner. GAPS™ is an acronym standing for both the “Gut and Psychology Syndrome” and the “Gut and Physiology Syndrome.” The GAPS™ technique or protocol is a very special, specific and targeted technique to “heal and seal” the gastrointestinal lining with its roots in the SCD (Specific Carbohydrate Diet) as refined and developed by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, MD. The technique and its many facets are explained in her book “Gut and Psychology Syndrome.” This very special dietary and lifestyle approach has been shown to be effective at treating autism, dyspraxia, depression, schizophrenia, ADD/ADHD, IBD/IBS conditions such as Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis and GERD, autoimmune conditions and many more diseases as well.
Dr. Amoruso sought out this official certification because he feels that there are myriad diseases which benefit from repairing and healing the gut according to the principles set forth by Dr. Campbell-McBride in her work.
