Consultation and Examination
On your first visit to our office you will be greeted warmly by one of our chiropractic team members. Our front desk assistant will make a copy of your insurance card and take any information you brought with you, including any recent x-rays and any required forms that you have already completed. You may then be asked to fill out any other necessary forms so that we will be able to serve you better. If you need assistance in filling out your forms, please let us know.
After reviewing your paperwork, Dr. Merkling will introduce himself to you. He will talk with you and ask specific questions regarding your condition. If you have any specific health concerns not yet covered, you should let Dr. Merkling know at this time. After your discussion with the doctor, he will perform a complete chiropractic examination. This will include testing your reflexes, your ability to turn and bend, as well as other standard orthopedic, neurologic, postural, and physical examinations. On this visit, Dr. Merkling will take the x-rays that are appropriate for your diagnosis and treatment. By the time your first visit is complete, the doctor will have gained valuable information regarding your condition and he will be able to determine the nature of your particular health issue, and if and to what extent chiropractic care can help you.
Following your examination you will be given an appointment to return for a report of findings.
Report of Findings
During the report of findings Dr. Merkling will explain what your examination results are. He will talk to you about his recommendation for your care. Dr. Merkling will talk openly with you about your health condition and your potential for recovery, and he will respect your choices regarding your healthcare. He will address your questions and concerns. If he does not believe that chiropractic care will benefit you, he will kindly refer you to the specialist that he believes will be able to help you the most. First and foremost Dr. Merkling wants you to live a healthier, fuller life.
