Work Injury

Neck pain in the workplace is usually attributable to one of three causes. These causes are sudden and forceful trauma, repetitive motion, or poor workplace ergonomics. Neck pain may also be due to degenerative disc disease, misalignment of one or more vertebrae, nerve root compression, or strained muscles, tendons, or ligaments. Neck pain can make routine movements of the head, neck, shoulders, and hands painful. At Lansing Chiropractic Clinic in Lansing, KS, and Leavenworth, KS, our chiropractor has more than 30 years of experience in treating patients for neck pain due to work injury.

Understanding Neck Pain

Most people don't realize that their head weighs between 11 and 12 pounds. The cervical spine's seven vertebrae, the discs in between them, and its ligaments, muscles, tendons, and nerves all work together to support the head. The vertebrae in the cervical spine allow for a considerable range of motion of the neck and head. However, supporting the head’s considerable weight makes the cervical spine susceptible to damage. Injury of the cervical spine will lead to neck pain and a reduced range of motion.

Misaligned Vertebrae and Neck Pain

Many patient complaints of neck pain are due to spinal misalignment. Neck muscles can spasm, pulling muscles, tendons, and soft tissues out of place. When misalignment occurs, one or more vertebrae are likely to impinge on nerve roots, inflaming them and causing severe pain while limiting the range of motion. Given the fact that the cervical spine is so close to the brain stem, other nerves that originate from the spinal cord can be affected. If ignored, that neck pain from a work injury can progress into an issue that affects the entire body.

Chiropractor in Lansing and Leavenworth

It's certainly not unusual for people who suffer from neck pain to purchase over-the-counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatories to cope with their symptoms. While medication can effectively mask your pain, they do nothing to address the root cause of your discomfort. Chiropractic care is an attractive option for work injury treatment because it is natural and non-invasive. Rather than mask your symptoms with prescription medication or resort to invasive surgery, our chiropractor will evaluate your musculoskeletal system to identify the root cause of your neck pain. We will use this information to create a chiropractic care plan tailored to your needs.

At Lansing Chiropractic Clinic, we have years of experience providing residents of Lansing, Leavenworth, and Ft. Leavenworth, KS, with natural and effective chiropractic care. For more information or to schedule a consultation, call us at (913) 727-2727.
