Through out your pregnancy and postpartum journey, headaches are very common. Of course, headaches can be caused by hormonal changes, but more commonly they are caused by the many postural changes that occur. During your pregnancy your head will transition to an anterior or forward position. This leads to extra tension on your neck and shoulder muscles. Postpartum your body positions are all in front of you. From nursing, carrying, snuggling, and pumping your body is constantly being pulled forward. This on top of just going through child birth and not having a lot of muscle stability your postural muscles tighten causing headaches. There are several great exercises to help with the postural changes. Check them out!
