Cryotherapy & Workout Recovery

Cryotherapy & Workout Recovery

When it comes to chiropractic, there are so many new and advanced ways to ensure your spinal health. At Spring Chiropractic, we want to let you know about the ways that you can take care of your body when you are not inside our office.

Workout Recovery

Often, many patients turn up to our office as a result of years of playing sports or spending time on their feet. While exercising to take care of your body is great, it can also have lasting effects on your muscles. Some ways to prevent muscle injury include the following methods of workout recovery:

  • Hot and cold therapy. Incorporate the use of ice packs and heating pads to increase circulation in your muscles and keep your joints loose.
  • Stretching. Stretching is a great way to guarantee that your muscles do not tighten up during recovery. Tight muscles can cause your body to compensate for pain from a stiff neck or sore legs.
  • Massage. Not only does massage feel great, it can help to release tension in your muscles.
  • Sleep. Sleep is incredibly essential to workout recovery. By sleeping, your muscles have the chance to rebuild and grow.

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is a way of reducing the chance for bruising and secondary injury after strain on muscles. However, there are some risks involved when it comes to cryotherapy, as the session makes use of temperatures below minus 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Because of this, it is important to follow all instructions given by your cryotherapy provider to prevent additional injuries, such as nerve damage and frostbite. When done safely and correctly, there are many benefits to cryotherapy:

  • Increased mood and energy
  • Healthy skin
  • Relief from arthritis and muscle tension
