Active Body Chiro-Care - Chiropractic Techniques

The Wide and Varied World of Chiropractic Techniques

Chiropractic care includes a wider range of techniques and technologies than many people realize. Each technique has its own special strengths and advantages for the treatment for various musculoskeletal conditions. That's why Dr. Hogan and his team of chiropractors at Active Body Chiro-Care makes a point of offering multiple techniques, both on its own and in combination with each other and with other natural healing methods. This enables us to customize our care for each and every patient -- including you! Our techniques include:

Diversified Technique

Diversified Technique is the classic, traditional chiropractic technique every chiropractic student learns -- the original method pioneered by Dr. D. D. Palmer, the developer of chiropractic care as we know it. This technique is the one most people think of when they envision "getting adjusted" by a chiropractor. Diversified Technique focuses on restoring normal biomechanical function to subluxated, injured, painful or otherwise impaired joints by applying low-amplitude, high-velocity force. It is still the first line of treatment for general joint issues. Diversified chiropractic adjustments some result in the release of trapped gases inside the joint, resulting in a light, harmless "pop."

Active Release Technique

Active Release Technique is another form of manual chiropractic adjustment. It consists of over 500 separate motions aimed at diagnosing and treating pain and other symptoms caused by soft tissue problems. Our chiropractors at Active Body Chiro-Care will feel the area carefully for any telltale signs of internal scarring that may be inhibiting the motion of muscles and connective tissues. Once the trouble spots have been pinpointed, your practitioner will use precise manual adjustments to redirect the tension in the tissues, resorting lost range of motion and relieving your pain without drugs.

Activator Technique

Not to be confused with Active Release Technique, Activator Technique makes use of modern technology to provide the smallest, most precise adjustments possible. We use a handheld, spring-loaded device called an Activator to impart small degrees of force to a very small area. These mild adjustments are ideal for young and old patients alike, or wherever we need to work on a particularly tricky or delicate joint alignment issue

Thompson Drop Table

The Thompson Drop Table is an extremely low-force form of chiropractic care that can nevertheless bring about dramatic results. The drop table in question is specially designed so that various sections of the examination surface can be lowered or raised to facilitate work on a specific body part. the Thompson Drop Table is especially useful for revealing signs of musculoskeletal imbalances, which may manifest themselves as unequal leg length when you are lying on the table.
