Essential Oils

What Is Essential Oil?

Essential oils are distilled from leaves, fruits, woods, seeds, bark, flowers and other parts of various plants. They have therapeutic properties that can help heal your mind and body. One of the factors that determines the purity and therapeutic value of an oil is its chemical constituents. These constituents can be affected by a vast number of variables, such as parts, geographic region, climate, altitude, harvest season, and distillation process.

What Benefits Do Essential Oils Provide?

Essential oils embody the regenerating, oxygenating, and immune-strengthening properties of plants. They are so small in molecular size that they can quickly penetrate the skin. In fact, essential oils are so small they can across blood brain barrier and affect the brain directly.

Essential oils contain oxygen molecules that help to transport nutrients to the staving human cells.  Because a nutritional deficiency is an oxygen deficiency, disease begins when the cells lack the oxygen for proper nutrients assimilation. By providing the needed oxygen, essential oils also work to stimulate the immune system.
Essential oils are very powerful antioxidants. Antioxidants create an unfriendly environment for free radicals. They work as free radical scavengers, prevent fungus, and prevent oxidation in the cells.
Essential oils are antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-infectious, antimicrobial, and antiseptic.  They have been shown to destroy all tested bacteria and viruses while simultaneously restoring balance to the body. -- text from Modern Essentials, 5th Edition.

How Do We Use Essential Oil In Our Office?

In ICON Chiropractic Center, we use essential oils as part of our protocol to enhance body's healing process. Essential oils were mankind's first medicine.  From Egyptian hieroglyphics and Chinese manuscripts, we know that priests and physicians have been using oils derived from aromatic plants from thousands of years. Different oils can have different affects on different conditions. Due to specific chemical constituents, conditions such as lower back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain to chronic systemic conditions and mood lifters can be benefit from essential oils.
