Case Study: Acupuncture for Increased Immunity
A patient presented to our office after abnormal squamous cells were found on her cervix during a routine exam two years ago. Her OB/GYN advised her to increase her immunity and to recheck every 6 months. The cells had been improving, but her last check there was no change from the previous check. She had researched that acupuncture can boost your immune system. In addition to acupuncture, she increased her exercise, added more fiber to her diet, started taking a multivitamin, and Vitamin B12. She also wasn't sleeping well at night and had the occasional headache.
Her next check wasn't going to be for six months. We decided that we would do acupuncture once a month. I also wanted to add Vitamin C, Vitamin D3, and elderberry syrup to her regimen.
I used the Acugraph to measure her acupuncture meridians. I treated based on the graph and a few extra points to balance the body.
After her first visit, she felt like she had more energy and slept better. She didn't have a headache all month. She continued to receive monthly acupuncture session until her OB/GYN appointment in January.
After 6 acupuncture sessions, the patient had no abnormal cells found during her exam. She also noted that she wasn't sick all winter, even with traveling frequently on airplanes and being away from home a lot for work. She is still receiving acupuncture and doing her immune boosting regimen. She has one more 6 month scan to make sure no abnormal cells have returned.
