What is CranioSacral Therapy?
CranioSacral Therapy is a very gentle, light touch approach that releases tensions in the central nervous system so that every other system in the body can relax, self-correct, and free itself of pain and discomfort. The practitioner uses about 5 grams of pressure to find and release the tensions throughout the body.
How does CranioSacral Therapy work?
The basic premise of CranioSacral Therapy is the central nervous system controls a lot of processes in your body. The craniosacral system has a great impact on the central nervous system, because it provides the fluid for its nutrients. In your life stresses and traumas, blockages occur in this system (similar to trigger points in muscles) which decrease the performance of the nervous system. Using gentle touch to correct these blockages, your body can restore proper function to the nervous system and other systems that the nervous system interacts with.
Who could benefit from a CranioSacral Therapy session?
Almost everyone could benefit from CranioSacral. It is gentle in nature, so it can be practiced on a wide variety of people, including infants. It is very effective in helping people with migraines, neck and back pain, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, fatigue, TMJ syndrome, colic, scoliosis, emotional distress, stress, and many more. CranioSacral facilitates your body's healing.
What is a CranioSacral Therapy session like?
In our office, we usually use CranioSacral in conjunction with a Chiropractic adjustment or Acupuncture. After either of those sessions, CranioSacral can be performed to further help your body's healing. Many people feel very relaxed during and after a treatment. Some may even feel very emotional, which is normal. CranioSacral Therapy is highly individualized so there are many ways your body can process the treatment.
