How to Deal With a Car Accident

Getting into a car accident is something all of us want to avoid. Unfortunately, accidents do happen, and even in the most minor of crashes, it is advisable to follow a set path to most importantly, ensure you are ok, and secondly, to help build a case should it become a legal matter.

Here at Northwest Health Solutions in northwest Tucson, we have been treating personal injury patients for over 30 years. We know the process and how to help provide you with the treatment you need, as well as any documentation for a potential compensation claim.

Although we are not attorneys, and do not claim to be, we can provide you with a basic overview of what you should do if you have been involved in an auto accident.

First, if you haven’t been to an Urgent Care or ER, or didn’t feel the need to go to one because you felt your injuries weren’t that bad, come in and see us immediately. Sometimes symptoms do not show up for a few days and they can begin by being very mild. Moreover, if you did go to Urgent Care or ER, they usually screen you for serious conditions such as fracture, dislocation, and internal bleeding. If they determine it is “just” a whiplash (soft tissue) injury there is no follow-up. There can be long term consequences from whiplash injuries if left untreated, so a further evaluation to determine the extent of the soft tissue damage is necessary.

If you have been to an ER or seen your primary care physician, or anyone else for that matter, get the documentation from those visits.

We will provide you with the documentation of your injuries and treatment and this will be essential to pass onto a claims person or an attorney to deal with your claim.

It is also a good idea to get x-rays to further identify any issues or problems caused by the accident. Ligament injuries, which can produce life-long problems, may not be able to be determined any other way.

You may also need to have a certain amount of treatment for a soft tissue injury to heal optimally. It is essential that this be documented properly.

Why is all this necessary? Well, we want to ensure that you are treated properly so that you can recover as quickly as possible. Your injuries need to be identified and documented to make sure that they are causally related to the accident. And also remember, insurance companies do not want to pay anything if they can help it, so you have to be very solid in your case and demonstrate that you have seen the appropriate medical professionals with the documentation to back this up.

Once again, we have been dealing with accident injury victims in Tucson for many years and understand the system very well. We can help you recover from your injuries as quickly as possible. Give us a call today and let us help you.
