An initial assessment is used to assess and diagnose the problem(s) at hand, and to determine the best course of treatment. The doctor will carefully examine your medical history as well as provide a thorough physical examination to assess your specific needs.
This physical exam may include, but is not limited to:
- Orthopaedic assessment
- Neurological assessment
- Range of motion assessment
- Postural assessment
During this time, you may also wish to ask questions or discuss your concerns with the doctor. After determining a diagnosis and treatment plan, the chiropractor will usually begin treatment the same day. While some find immediate relief, the number of sessions you will need varies by condition and severity.
