Distraction Tables & Our Why

Do you have constant low back or neck pain troubles? Have you ever had a herniated disc, bulging disc, or severe degeneration? Then, distraction table therapy may be the right course of action for you. We have recently acquired a new distraction table in the office as some of you have noticed. This table will be used on a case-by-case basis for those who are needing that extra push to heal.

WHAT IS IT?

Spinal decompression therapy or also referred to as nonsurgical spinal decompression works by gradually stretching the spine while the patient is in the traction table or a similar motorized device. Its main goal is to provide relief in back, leg, or neck pain caused by bulging, degenerating, or herniated disc.

By using a spinal decompression table or other similar devices it creates negative pressure and spaces within the disc. This process allows the disc fluid to move back in its right place. And, it is creating an environment that provides the disc to take more nutrients. Thus, it can quickly heal on its own.

Spinal decompression utilizes the same basic principle of flexion distraction therapy offered in the office. They are both having an aim of providing pain relief and creating an environment that maximizes healing ability for bulging, degenerating, or herniated discs.

OUR WHY

Dr. Sutherland can relate to many of you going through these low back pain experiences, especially when it comes to disc herniation. Below is a picture of Dr. Sutherland when he was just starting chiropractic school. He had a disc herniation at L4 & L5 that sent extreme pain down his left leg. He walked & went to class like this for approximately 3 months. Doctors told him he required surgery but Dr. Sutherland wanted a more natural method of healing (although a quick fix did seem appealing at the time).

At this point, he asked the Chiropractors at school about what his next steps could be. A distraction table quickly became a solution SECONDARY to his chiropractic care. Dr. Sutherland found relief with adjustments & distraction table modalities and he can't imagine where he'd be without them!

As you can see, a full recovery has been made and he has now been delivering care to patients for approximately 5 years! He doesn't want anyone to go through what he did.
