Car Accident Injury FAQ

Car Accident Injury FAQ

A car accident injury can be serious enough to cause damage to your neck or back. Common injuries that occur during auto accidents include those that involve damage to soft tissue in the neck and back, such as ligament or tendon injuries. In addition to causing pain and restricting your range of motion, these injuries might also cause other symptoms, such as ongoing headaches. A chiropractor can provide treatment that helps ease pain and other symptoms.

Why Should I Consider Chiropractic Care in Clermont?

car accident injury FAQ in ClermontAuto accident injuries can prevent you from doing your everyday activities and might cause you to be out of work for a certain amount of time. With the help of chiropractic care, your neck or back injury might heal more quickly, allowing you to resume normal activities and return to the workplace. Keep in mind that other medical treatments, such as medication or surgery, might not be effective enough on their own to heal your injuries. Some also carry risks to your health, such adverse reactions to pain medications or infections and other complications associated with surgical procedures. Chiropractic care offers nonsurgical treatment methods that are safe and carry very low risks of side effects.

What Types of Treatments Are Available for Auto Accident Injuries?

A chiropractor can treat back and neck injuries from car accidents in different ways. One of the most common forms of treatment is spinal adjustment. This involves adjusting the spine in order to correct any misalignments that are causing pain and other health issues. When the spine is in alignment, it receives the nutrients it needs to naturally heal itself. These adjustments also help restore normal range of motion and ease inflammation. Spinal adjustments are sometimes combined with other types of treatments to provide more effective healing. These other treatments include massage therapy, trigger point therapy and electro-stimulation, which also promote healing. Some patients might also benefit from doing stretching and exercises that build strength and improve flexibility.

What Are the Laws on Medical Care After an Accident?

Under Florida’s new personal injury protection law, which went into effect on January 1, 2014, victims who are injured in an auto accident have up to 14 days to seek medical care and receive benefits. After this time period is up, victims will not be entitled to receive benefits under personal injury protection coverage. This law also allows victims to receive up to $10,000 in benefits if a healthcare provider determines that their injuries   are an emergency. For injuries that are considered a non-emergency, victims can receive up to $2,500 in benefits.
