Chronic Low Back Pain | Sacramento Chiropractic Care

Chronic Low Back Pain Relief at Anderson Chiropractic Clinic, Inc

Here is an interesting newer study, published in the prestigious journal, Spine. When it comes to chronic low back pain, there are many studies in the scientific literature. Low back pain has now become the number one cause of disability worldwide, so it is no small issue. Most of the recent studies I have seen have found that the best solution, especially for chronic low back pain, is adjustments and exercise. Many studies have also found that the natural history of low back pain is that it tends to come back and haunt us if we don't get regular adjustments and exercise.

Man with low back pain, needs to seek a chiropractor in Sacramento.

Lower Back Pain Relief from Dr. Gregg Anderson

As a Sacramento Chiropractor, I do my very best to help my patients get pain relief as quickly as possible. Then I help them better understand how to take care of their spine and nervous system. Of course, when your spine is healthy, you have the best chance of having great health overall and enjoying life.

We live in a culture that expects and demands "fast and easy." Many products and services at our fingertips can deliver just that. Unfortunately, with health, many of the "fast and easy" solutions are not real solutions, but merely patches or worse yet, they cause more problems often referred to as "side-effects." The best solutions are often the practical and sensible ones that do take some time, effort and money;  three things too many people are reluctant to spend. I hope to change that!

This new study suggests that maintenance care can be a very effective way to obtain a long-term benefit. The researchers had three groups of people with chronic low back pain. The first group got 12 fake or "sham" adjustments and got no relief at all.

The second group got 12 good adjustments over one month, and they experienced significantly reduced pain and disability that month. Then they had no maintenance adjustments over the next 9 months. At the 10 month evaluation, they, unfortunately, had the same pain and disability they started with.

The lucky third group got the same 12 good adjustments for one month, and then also got maintenance adjustments, two times per month for 9 months. At the 10 month evaluation, they still had much-reduced pain and disability, and were probably thankful that they were randomized into that third group!

This study suggests that people with chronic low back pain should stick with their chiropractic care on a consistent maintenance basis if they want to enjoy lasting relief and good health.
