3 Important Reasons NOT to go to the gym in 2016

There are at least 3 important reasons NOT to go to the gym in 2016, that you won't hear anywhere else. Be sure to read to the end for the most important reason.

It's now a couple good weeks into the new year, and if you're like many,
the "get to the gym' resolutions aren't going quite as planned. Well that may be a good thing because there are 3 important reasons not to go the the gym just yet:

1. Your joints aren't fit for exercise! We see this all the time. I have seen several people already this year that got hurt at the gym. There may be misalignments or restrictions in your joints that make it impossible to exercise appropriately. These are what chiropractors call "subluxations." They can occur with stress in and on your spine or other parts of your skeleton. Putting exercise stress on these out-of-alignment joints can not only make it hard to exercise properly, it can cause harm, and make things worse for yourself. It's like continuing to walk with a rock in your shoe!

I often say, you can't exercise what you can't move! For example, a subluxation in the neck or upper back will hinder the proper movement of and nerve supply to the shoulders. Misalignment in the pelvis, will hinder proper movement of your back and legs. If you have tried to exercise, and it hurts, then it is definitely time to have your joints evaluated, aligned and tuned up, before you really hurt yourself. I can definitely help you with this.

2. You don't know WHAT TO DO when you DO get to the gym! At most gyms around here, there are so many machines, weights and things to do that it can be overwhelming. On the one hand, you may not do yourself any good. On the other hand, you may even cause yourself some harm. I have seen many people over the years who have hurt themselves at the gym. Many quite badly.

The remedy for this is to consult with a knowledgeable personal trainer. Many gyms will encourage this, and if you need a referral, I know some good trainers that you can call.

3. You don't have a sporty t-shirt to wear to the gym! Everyone knows that if you look good, you'll feel good. We will make this one easy for you! For any of you that read this far, and that come into the office for an adjustment any time during the next week, January 25-28, (which also happens to be my 55th Birthday week), just ask Sheila or I for a sporty new Anderson Chiropractic "Well-Adjusted" T-shirt. They are snug and cool, and you will feel sporty wearing one! Maybe you'll even make it to the gym before the end of the month!

We appreciate you, and hope to see you next week.
