Hands-on specific spinal decompression with Sacramento Chiropractor

As a local Sacramento chiropractor, I get to talk to a lot of people every week outside of my clinic; at school sports events, church, fundraisers, etc.  When people learn that I am a chiropractor, it is always a privilege and interesting to hear their chiropractic stories. Most are amazing.  Often I also get to help people understand what we do, and how we are able to help, when others can't.  Few people realize that chiropractors are the #3 most visited providers, after medical doctors and dentists.

What I have been hearing more and more however concerns me.  I have been hearing how many folks have the impression that chiropractors today are all about hooking people up to their fancy therapy machines to provide the care.    Hmmm...  That is awkward because "Chiro" means "hand" and "practic" means "practical."

Granted, there are many worthwhile devices or "adjunctive therapies" that include:  electrical muscle stimulation, TENS, ultrasound, traction, spinal decompression machines, heat, ice, laser, etc. that we are licensed to use. I use some myself. However, many can also be found in physical medicine clinics or even physical therapy offices.

What you CANNOT get however, anywhere but in a chiropractic office, is a CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENT!   That is what we uniquely do so well.  Since 1895, chiropractors have recognized that the human body, particularly the spine, likes to be aligned and move normally. When it does, your nerves are happy, and you enjoy better health.

Chiropractors are specialists at finding areas of the body that are not aligned, and delivering specific adjustments to gently restore motion and alignment, and thereby reducing pressure and dysfunction. Adjustments take exceptional skill and expertise.  I know that I am a lot better now at giving adjustments than when I first started 18 years ago. I'm sure I will be even better in the years to come.

There are some hands-on instruments that are used that can be helpful with providing specific adjustments, including the Activator, Impulse and the Vertebral Distraction Pump, which is my favorite. It is like an extension of the doctor's hands.

When the spine is compressed, and nerves and discs are irritated, nothing in my opinion works better than a good specific, hands-on Vertebral Distraction Pump adjustment.

My advice is to find a doctor of chiropractic who is hands-on with you, and will offer what you can get nowhere else:  A good Chiropractic Adjustment!  Get the real deal!

I just put a video about the Vertebral Distraction Pump on my website.  Check it out.
