Great Outcome for Injured Person

I was just reviewing a file for one of our patients who had been injured in a "T-Bone" auto accident in downtown Sacramento.  It was gratifying because she was the all-too-rare person who did everything right, before and after her injury. As a result, she had about the best possible outcome one can have under the circumstances:  She got well, had her care paid for, and was fairly compensated for her pain, hassle and suffering. 

How you might ask?

First off - she had her own very good insurance.  That means all the usual coverage provisions, like collision and liability, but also two provisions that are often missed:  Under / Uninsured motorist protection with a 100/300,000 limit, and very importantly, Medical Payments !  The driver who hit her, and was at fault, had a minimal 15/30  liability policy and not the most "top-shelf" insurance company. 

Second - She came in for evaluation and treatment within a few days of her injury. We were able to diagnose the injuries and get helpful treatment started at the right time. Later we needed to refer her for an MRI of her neck which showed some disc damage, and arranged an evaluation with a medical specialist.  We also prescribed some massage therapy which helped as well - All covered by her own Medical Payments insurance.

Third - We recommended a professional Personal Injury Attorney. She recognized the value of having legal representation right away. The attorney took her case on a contingency basis.  Therefore, throughout the course of her recovery, she did not have to hassle with the other driver's insurance company or even her own.  When all was done, her attorney settled with both the other driver's insurance company minimal policy, as well as with her own company because she had the Under / Uninsured Motorist protection. Our thorough Electronic Health Records, diagnosis and documentation made it easy for the attorney.  No muss, no fuss, and she was compensated very well at the conclusion of her case.  Too often, people are reluctant to ask for the help of a personal injury attorney.  They think it will cost them a lot of money, or they don't want to be unkind and "sue" somebody.  In my experience, it is a no-brainer to get help, or at least to have a consultation and see if you do need help.  I've seen too many people make mistakes in the process and then end up not even getting the cost of their medical bills reimbursed.
