Welcome to your First Visit to HealthQuest Chiropractic
If this is your first visit to a chiropractor or to this chiropractic office, you may be wondering what you should expect. Typically, your very first chiropractic visit at HealthQuest will follow this pattern:
TAKING YOUR HEALTH HISTORY
Prior to meeting with your chiropractic doctor, you will be asked to fill out a simple form. This form will provide your doctor with your health and family background information about the symptoms and onset of your problems and any genetic concerns which may have an effect on your existing conditions. You may be asked to sign a release for HealthQuest to obtain a copy of your relevant medical records from other practitioners or hospitals if you have suffered from an accident or other serious injury. HealthQuest is in compliance with HIPPA so your records are confidential and there is a form for that purpose too.

PRE-EXAM CONSULTATION
After you have completed your health history, you will have a private consultation with your HealthQuest Chiropractic doctor. This is your opportunity to share any information or specifics you feel may be relevant to your current or recurring conditions, even if not strictly due to your medical and health care. You may also wish to discuss any concerns or questions you may have about your chiropractic treatment.
PHYSICAL EXAMINATION
Following your consultation with your chiropractic doctor, you will then receive a comprehensive physical examination. This is as harmless as an examination by your family physician although it will be thorough. The chiropractic doctors and staff at HealthQuest strive to give the best comprehensive health care possible. In the state of Utah your chiropractic doctor can legally be your primary care physician. The thoroughness of your initial visit is to ensure you get the best care possible. Because your spine is the path for nerve information to travel from your brain to the rest of your body, there are several nationally standardized tests that are done in your examination. Chiropractic doctors perform many of the same tests that your physician would. HealthQuest Chiropractic's doctor will routinely test specific neurological and orthopedic responses to gain information about the range of motion of your injuries, your neurological consistency, and muscle tone and strength. The purpose of the examination is for your chiropractic doctor to better assess which diagnostic studies he or she may have to perform.
DIAGNOSTIC STUDY
The combined results of the history, examination, and diagnostic studies, aid in developing a specific diagnosis or even more than one in many cases. Once your diagnosis is established, your doctor can then determine if your condition is such that it will respond well to chiropractic care.
TREATMENT PLAN
If the findings are appropriate, your doctor will then discuss with you a treatment plan, including the chiropractic care and therapies, appointment frequency, costs, helpful tips and a general estimate of your personal healing process. Depending on your condition, you may receive a chiropractic adjustment the same day. Your doctor will likely recommend a series of visits. Chiropractic, like most types of therapies, relies on interventions over a standard period of time to achieve maximum effect, which are recommended by standard protocols. If you have any questions, at all, about the treatment plan, be sure to ask your chiropractic doctor.
